Dear M,
Many people come and go into my life, some stay for months and their marks last years to come, others it takes years to leave a thin layer of love, but you. You were my first lesson of love, you are my first lesson of love, you built the belief that it has the ability to concur more heartache than it can remember, that forgetfulness is a bliss, often you loved me blind, and sometimes I can’t help but wonder, if trust is complete honesty or complete confidence in the person, without needing the details, if i shall have a daughter, maybe then I’ll understand. But now? Now, I am your daughter. Now, I am coming back to you. Now, I am learning how to navigate my life decisions, and yet keep you with me on that journey, to be the voice, the google maps guidance, to know what you’re telling me, is the best you’ve got, and to know, to know that sometimes the 3G lags, and sometimes the map is not updated, but that I’ve become equipped enough to make the right decision. And I hope you can trust me, the way I’ve trusted you for so many years, the way I trust you, always.
With Love,
Your daughter
Dana S.
